Oak Hill Basketball Is In The House!

Our guest on this episode of Hoopchalk is Coach Smith of Oak Hill Academy! We are so grateful to have had him on and can’t wait to share this episode with you all! Coach Smith is the winningest coach in High School Basketball and has coached 17 NBA stars.

Coach Smith is a 1977 graduate of Asbury College,  a four-year Christian liberal arts college located in Wilmore Kentucky. He holds an M.S. degree from Eastern Kentucky University and has been named USA Today National Coach of the Year FOUR TIMES! (1994, 1999, 2004, 2012).

The Oak Hill Warriors have been crowned “National High School Champions” Nine times (1993, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2016). So he knows a thing or two about basketball. He has coached twenty-eight McDonalds All Americans and has had seventeen former players drafted by the NBA.

A short list of those players include Rod Strickland, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Ty Lawson, Rajon Rondo, Josh Smith, Jerry Stackhouse and Stephen Jackson. Oak Hill Academy is definitely the place to be for those athletes looking to play at the highest level!  In this interview he lays it down! He talks about what he looks for in a ball player and even shares with us the important dates of the Collegiate scouting period.

-Did you know that there are only 3 1/2 weeks during the entire year that college coaches are out watching players play?

– Did you know that attending high profile camps during that period of time will dramatically increase your chances of being seen and possible recruited?

If you didn’t… you might want to listen and subscribe to this podcast.
